FibonacciLeonardo of Pisa or Leonardo Pisano (c. 1175 - 1250), also seen as Fibonacci, was an Italian mathematician and is most serious seen for the invention showing the Fibonacci numerals & his purpose in using the introduction through Europe of the modernistic positional decimal formulas for composing to manipulating figures. Perceiving that arithmetic with Arabic script numerals is more elementary and more effective than by having Roman numerals, Fibonacci travelled throughout the Mediterranean area to learn under the stellar Arab mathematicians of the time, returning around 1200. In 1202, at age 27, he published what he had learned in Liber Abaci, or Book of Computation. This record showed the practical grandness of a great new number system by applying it to commercial bookkeeping, conversion of weights and measures, the calculation of interests, money-changing, and numerous related applications. The ledger was easily received throughout enlightened Europe for those who like to had a profound affect on European opinion, although the use of decimal numerals did not become widespread until the invention of publishing nearly three centuries later on. Leonardo became a guest of the Emperor Frederick II, who relished mathematics with science. In 1240 the Democracy of Pisa observed Leonardo, under his alternative name of Leonardo Bigollo, by awarding him a wage.
